Division Breakdown

On your entry form you must specify whether you are entering the Beginner, Intermediate, Journeyman, or Master category. You may enter in any tier you wish; however, a rough guide to how the rankings work is as follows.

If you have not competed before, we suggest entering Beginner or Intermediate. If you have been cosplaying for more than 2 years and feel confident in your craft but have not yet competed, we would suggest Intermediate.

For the progression from Intermediate to Journeyman and Master, typically you would rank up based on the number of awards. For example, if you have won three times in Intermediate, you would enter Journeyman. If you've won twice in Journeyman, you would compete in Journeyman a third time before progressing to Master.

Best in Show and Community Choice are decided by the judges and the Coscom community and cannot be directly applied for. Best in show is decided by the judges, the BIS can be selected from any division level. However, you cannot win 1st in a division as well as BIS. Community choice will be decided by votes from our social media audience. It will be the top 10 finalists from each division. Photos and a short bio will be posted on the Coscom website shortly after applications close on August 21st, 11:59 EST.

Coscom and its judges reserve the right to move contestants to a higher level based on the skill demonstrated in their entry and the quality of the other contestants in that division level.
